Newsletter, May / June 1972
Dear All, Firstly my humble apologies for the delay in this newsletter but I have been on holiday for a few weeks. Nevertheless as the saying goes “better late than never”.
The group have been playing at the Camden Festival and at the Bickershaw Festival since I last wrote to you all. Bickershaw was a very wet but good gig. To quote Sounds review of the gig: “Then came a long wait before Family came on to deliver a really fine show. Their songs have now more attack than I can ever remember from any of their line-ups, and if some of their subtlety has been lost in the transition then that’s too bad.” I hope the rain didn’t dampen the spirits too much of those of, you who went!!
There are no gigs set as yet for May but do watch the musical papers for gigs set after the newsletter has been sent out. Family are all set to record this month with the possibility of a new single for July. June is being used as the groups annual holiday but all plans of where everyone is off to are still unsettled.
There is to be another English tour in November starting on the 6th. The group tour America for two months from the end of August with Elton John.
Snippets — Roger is learning to drive! Ken celebrated in style after Derby won the League Championship. Yours with luv, Lee.
