Memories of seeing this released in the wild, pressing variants, and corrections welcome.

  1. This particular compilation always bugged me a bit as it is by no means a complete collection of Family’s singles. Much of this is a result of licencing agreements in which the reissuing labels were given free reign of their material under Bradgate Bush Ltd. and Tony Gourvish, but not Dukesloge and John Gilbert. Not exactly the first compilation that completely blows off their first two albums. Apparently the mastertapes were absent at the time of making this compilation for “Stop This Car” as it is a pretty ropey sounding needle drop transfer. Of course that is assuming that anything from the Line or Castle catalog from this period actually involved any sort of master tape.

  2. For years, this CD had the only version of ‘Stop This Car’ I had heard. It had the false ‘scratches’ but was in stereo, unlike the original single which only came in mono. Then much later I heard other versions of the song, also in stereo, but without the false ‘scratches’! Now I’m confused! Mick White
