Family's final UK single, taken from It's Only a Movie backed with a non-album B-side 'Drink to You'. Despite Radio Luxembourg airplay, it failed to chart — managing only a one-week appearance on Record Mirror's unnumbered 'Breakers' list in October 1973 — as BBC Radio 1 gave it little attention. Issued in Britain, the 45 also saw overseas releases in Germany and Portugal (picture sleeve issues), and France (Raft 18503). No further singles followed, making 'Sweet Desiree' the band's swan song.

Sweet Desiree — Cash Box critical note
Contemporary track assessment within an album review. In its review of It’s Only a Movie, Cash Box identified “Sweet Desiree” as one of the funkiest songs Family had written.
The magazine praised the album as a strong, communicative collection and heard the song’s relaxed groove as one of its clearest pleasures. This is not a separate singles-column notice, but a specific contemporary assessment of the track issued as Family’s final single.
