A dense British Chapman tour was joined by several important alumni markers: John Wetton released Rock of Faith, Jim Cregan played on Katie Melua's UK number-one debut, and rare footage preserves Jim King around this time. Chapman's Family & Friends retrospective and Newcastle concert DVD also brought the Family-to-Shortlist story back into print and onto film.
Angel Air/Fenn released the original NJPDVD611 edition of Roger Chapman: Family and Friends on 14 April 2003. Filmed at Newcastle Opera House in 2002, the DVD presents Chapman and guests working through the Family, Streetwalkers and solo songbooks. Later 2004 Snapper and 2006 NTSC editions account for conflicting catalogue dates. This is distinct from Angel Air’s 2008 Best of Family and Friends CD+DVD set.
Katie Melua released her debut album Call Off the Search in the UK on 3 November 2003. Jim Cregan played guitar on the record and toured with Melua; the album subsequently reached number one in Britain.
Rare short footage preserves former Family saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Jim King performing around 2003. The surviving film does not identify a venue or exact performance date, so this entry deliberately retains year precision. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QreYmczOy24
